Some stories begin with people. A baker who learns patience from a loaf of bread. A fisherman who discovers the colour of quiet. A woman who spends a winter learning to live by candlelight.
Others begin somewhere less expected. A fox crossing a snowy path. A letter found in an old drawer. A greenhouse filled with forgotten plants. A river remembering an old promise.
Many of the stories in The Listening Room are inspired by places, conversations and moments encountered during Julie Ann's travels, while others emerge from imagination, folklore and her deep love of the natural world.
